Description
The Bachelor's Degree in Law gives students a general, theoretical and practical, basic and comprehensive legal education in all branches of law, enabling them to know and handle basic legal concepts and to acquire the competences and skills needed to practise the legal professions. It will enable them to identify legal facts and problems, draw legal consequences and present information and solutions orally and in writing. Independent learning by students, together with proper ethical conduct and social responsibility, are essential goals of the programme.
Specialisations
The Bachelor's Degree in Law gives students a thorough, high-quality theoretical and practical legal education. Its structure in specialisations makes it especially attractive and competitive for access to legal professions in the public and private sectors. It allows students to design their own pathway of optional subjects and, if they wish, to specialise in the fourth year in Judicial Law or in EU Law and Sustainable Development. The specialisation is added to the Law degree certificate when the student takes at least five optional subjects belonging to the same area. A degree with a specialisation certifies to third parties the specialised training obtained by the student, without prejudice to the core training that the degree guarantees. There are two pioneering specialisations in the degree offered by the Faculty of Law in Ourense:
- The Specialisation in Judicial Law, the more classic and general of the two, offers students with a legal vocation a solid training programme in law that prepares them for public or private legal practice in general. It is especially aimed at students who wish to work in judicial practice within the Administration of Justice or to practise as lawyers
- The Specialisation in EU Law and Sustainable Development, more innovative and with a supranational approach, offers specialised, high-quality training in European law. It is of particular interest to ambitious students who are sensitive to the challenges of a globalised world, and also to international students who wish to take part in international mobility programmes and deepen their study of the EU's own institutions and sources of law
Applicant profile
- It is not an essential requirement, but it will benefit students' all-round education to have knowledge of Language, History, Philosophy, Ethics and Economics and to be able to use foreign languages. In particular, it is advisable to have a certain capacity for comprehension, analysis, systematisation and synthesis, oral and written expression, relating ideas, argumentation and critical reasoning.
